At the start of 2020 no one could have predicted how quickly our world would change and the impact on our day to day lives in the wake of Covid 19. As we can’t meet our customers in the way we once did, we want to bring you information about different areas of the Collins list which might have opportunities in your markets too.
As a leading education publisher, Collins had to react quickly to the introduction of homeschooling in the UK; supporting both our school customers who quickly moved to delivering classes remotely and to parents homeschooling their kids often while working.
From March onwards Collins bought its Revision and Home Learning products to the forefront, working hard to get books into the hands of parents to help them support their children’s educational needs.
- Since March 2020, Collins printed an additional 3 million copies of the Easy Learning range of revision titles to meet the needs of parents homeschooling in the UK.
- Collins appeared in The Times bestsellers list every week, accounting for 13 of the top 20 titles as well as consistently dominating the Amazon top selling lists.
- Collins contributed content across all age ranges and subjects as part of the UK BBC Bitesize online campaign to help parents and children homeschooling during UK lockdown.
The cornerstone of these campaigns centred around the Collins Easy Learning series for children aimed at 3-11 year olds (preschool, KS1 and KS2). A long established series, its success with parents stems from its values to build confidence, be colourful and relevant to school life today. Collins’ aim is to build good habits among students and through making engaging products, make learning fun and inspiring.
At the lower levels, the books focus particularly on writing and numeracy skills, for example with a series of wipe clean books where you can practice pen strokes and first sums for pre-schoolers. Then moving onto activity books for Maths and English, broken down by age range and bumper books of activities including comprehension, handwriting and phonics.
The series includes workbooks, activity books, wordsearches and flashcards which we sell to both schools and parents through bookshops and online retailers. We have also licensed books to publishing partners internationally and are open to discussion with online learning platforms.
If you would like to review the series in greater detail you can see further information here.
We can share samples in the form of PDFs and print copies should you wish to examine these further.
As publishers we have had to react quickly to changes in the market, adapting to not seeing our customers and sharing news and developments as we once did.
